St Patrick's Day Froot Loop Craft

Pot of Gold

Materials:

Mini terracotta pot

Black acrylic paint

Sponge brush

Super Glue ZAP Hobby Glue

Gold glitter

Shamrock vinyl or sticker cut out

Rolo candies to fill

 

Directions:

  1. Paint your terracotta pot with the black acrylic paint. It should take two coats to cover.  Let dry.
  2. Apply Super Glue ZAP Hobby Glue to the upper lip of the pot (top inch or two.) Sprinkle generously with gold glitter.
  3. Apply Shamrock sticker cut out to front and center of pot. Apply Super Glue ZAP Hobby Glue to shamrock area.
  4. Sprinkle shamrock area with gold glitter and slowly remove the sticker outline.
  5. Fill and pile high with golden, individually wrapped Rolo candies!

 

Irish Coffee Mugs

 

Materials:

Oil-based gold paint pen (find at a craft store such as Michaels)

1” Shamrock stickers

Solid colored green/white ceramic mugs

 

Directions:

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry  mugs
  2. Apply one shamrock sticker to front and center of each mug
  3. Paint gold dots around the shamrock. Paint many dots close together at first, and spread them wider apart as you move away from the shamrock until you have filled the area of a circle that reaches the top and bottom of the mug.    (Design will only be on one side.)
  4. Let paint dry. Remove sticker.

 

Fruit Loop Rainbow (for Kids)

 

Materials:

Fruit Loops

Cotton Balls

Super Glue ZAP Hobby Glue

Construction paper

Sponge brush

 

Directions:

  1. Separate out enough of each red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple fruit loops to apply a line of each across the paper lengthwise.
  2. Use the sponge brush to apply Super Glue ZAP Hobby Glue in a thin layer over entire sheet of construction paper.
  3. Apply a cluster of cotton balls to resemble a round or oval shaped cloud to one end of the construction paper.
  4. Put down the fruit loops in color-coded rows in rainbow order (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) in a slight arc across the paper.
  5. Let dry!

 

Pot of Gold at the End of the Rainbow Gift Bag

 

Materials:

Rainbow colored Twizzlers

Chocolate gold coins

Clear/flat cello cellophane treat bags (such as these)

Stapler

Circle stencils (such as these)

Scissors

White printer paper & printer with black ink

Yellow card stock

Gold glitter pen (from a craft store such as Michael’s)

Super Glue ZAP Hobby Glue

 

Directions:

  1. Open a Word Document and type…

…in a font that you like and all CAPS.  We used 16pt font on the left and 20pt on the right.  Print out a sheet with a few different font sizes to see what works for you and the stencil you will be using.

  1. Use your circle stencils to trace a circle around your quotes one at a time, to a size that covers the top of your treat bags.
  2. Use another stencil which is ½” to 1” wider to trace larger circles on the yellow card stock.
  3. Cut out your white and yellow circles. Then use your Super Glue ZAP Hobby Glue to affix the white printed circles onto the center of the larger yellow circles.
  4. Cut the yellow circle into a sun-spoke shape (example of sun spokes here.)
  5. Trace the words “POT O’GOLD” with your gold glitter pen and let dry.
  6. Place 4 or 5 gold coins in the bottom of the treat bag.
  7. Place a rainbow array of Twizzlers in the bag.
  8. Staple the top of the bag closed.
  9. Put a spot of glue on the top center of the front of the bag, and press one paper sun onto it. Hold for 30 seconds to affix, then leave out to dry.
